We’re mad about Mád and Tokaj!
We have therefore created this wine – a truly local ‘village’ wine – which testifies to the quality and individuality of Mad and can make the village a worldwide name. We know to achieve our aims we need cooperation. Therefore we launched a partnership with Szent Tamás Winery and Szepsy Winery in 2011. The result of this partnership is the extremely successful wine which we call Mád Furmint 2011.
We have continued with this project into 2012 and have made Mád Furmint 2012. This wine was made in greater volumes and high in quality.
The aim of Szent Tamás Winery is to buy grapes from carefully selected vignerons, who are willing to cultivate their vines to our strict standards, and do not produce more than seven tons of grapes per hectare. Then, vinification takes place at the Szent Tamás Winery where they incorporate modern winemaking technology to produce the best possible wine from these select grapes. Mád Furmint is released the year after of harvest.
Mád Furmint is able to express the new style of tokaj dry wines. The drinker can readily identify the specific style and personality of Mád’s vineyards on the nose and also on the palate. The presence of characteristic minerals in the clay rich soils give the wine a strong notion of terroir.
However our main goal is to make an easy-drinking wine!
For the first vintage we made twenty thousand bottles, all made of 100 precent Furmint
Following the successful cooperation with vignerons of Mád , we have been able to increase our production fivefold. We made one hundred thousand bottles of Mád Furmint 2012. (Decanter World Wine Award Silver Medal)
Youthful & expressive ripe fruits of nectarines, orange peels, fresh pear. Smooth & long finish. Pure & Precise.

We have also created an entirely new bottle shape for the Mad Furmint. We are hoping everyone in the wine-drinkers’s world will soon recognize this as being ‘the Dry Tokaj bottle’. The shape is a revised version in 0.75l of the half litre Aszú. The designer of the bottle is Géza Ipacs.
We are hoping the new shape will contribute to raising the awareness of Tokaj where the higly appreciated own bottle wine regions are in the world.
